Schizophasia and Bipolar Disorder affect approximately 1% of the global population—over 80 million people worldwide.
For those living with these mental health conditions, everyday life can be a constant challenge. Success often depends on having a strong, reliable support system.
Navigating life with a mental illness is much like rock climbing. Climbers need the right tools, knowledge, and guidance to ascend safely. One essential partner in climbing is the Belayer—the person who manages the rope, provides stability, and is always ready to catch the climber in case of a fall.
Similarly, individuals with severe mental illness need a network of support—family, friends, doctors, and counselors—who act as their Belayer, helping them stay steady and safe as they climb through life’s challenges.
The Belayer Foundation exists to be that support.
Our mission is to ensure that those affected by severe mental illness have the resources, care, and community they need, while supporting critical research necessary to find a cure.
